As hinted yesterday, the FedEx delivery did come today, and here is what it revealed: https://youtu.be/eq0JuGYTgZk.  Thanks to Cake's "Arco Arena" for the background music.

I have told Gameland they may ship the games.  Huzzah!

Steady Progress: Sample Boards in Transit
10 months ago – Sun, Jul 23, 2023 at 09:26:12 PM

This evening I've heard back from Gameland that the re-done game board survived the rains/humidity and passed inspection.  They have FedExed me one set of player mats/calendars and one board -- to finish up the inspection of the components I began with the rest of the materials last month.  According to the FedEx tracking info, the package has already left Memphis and I should receive it by Tuesday.

Once I confirm the functions of the game board and the player boards, they've assured me they'll move directly to delivery of the mass produced gams -- i.e., to put them on a boat from China (hopefully not a slow one) and get us one step closer to the games reaching you.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity
10 months ago – Sun, Jul 16, 2023 at 07:02:32 PM

I write to you from 100 degree weather here in the Bay Area, but, as they say, at least it's a dry heat.  Ningbo, China, on the other hand, is apparently experiencing extreme humidity, or at least the update I just received from the folks at Gameland would lead me to believe that.  Here's what I got via email less than five minutes ago (my my emphasis added):

The gameboard is finished.  I will send you the pics of it for your confirmation tomorrow.

Due to the recent rain in Ningbo, the humidity of the gameboards and player boards is over the limit, so in order to ensure the quality of the goods, we need to dry them out, and it will take about 3-5 days for the second re-inspection.
If the humidity is not over the standard in the second inspection, I will arrange the shipment immediately.

Of course, I will share with you all the photos when I receive them.  Until then, remember we have the digital game to keep us company, but little by little it seems we are edging closer to physical copies getting into people's hands.

Unboxing video

While we are waiting for the boards to be re-manufactured, Gameland sent me a quality-assurance copy of the game with all of the elements except the boards to verify they are to my specs.  Everything came out great.  Here's an amateurish video of me unboxing things: https://youtu.be/miNNXRj_Dvc.

We are getting there!

Super Short update: Solo EoC testing now possible
11 months ago – Sun, Jun 25, 2023 at 10:39:40 AM

If you're helping alpha test EoC, I just wanted to let you know that the solitaire version of the game against the Bubba Bot is now implemented in a very rough alpha test phase.  Bubba's moves only show up in the log, but you can play your turn and either ignore the log and be surprised, or watch the log to see what is happening down South, and then compare your score to Bubba's.  (Note, lots of non-critical display bugs still such as -- you will be asked what color you want to play but the solo game requires you to be green, so no matter what you pick, you'll play as green).

If you are in the alpha group already, just start a game with the number of players setting clicked down to 1 and you'll be off an running.

If you are not in the alpha group and this note makes you want to try some solitaire, then be sure to send you BGA account name to me at [email protected].  If you need a BGA account, here's the link:  https://boardgamearena.com/?h=3ld8 .
